6.4¶
The punishment matrix is the reference for expected actions. Staff must read the relevant entry before issuing a punishment whenever practical.
- Warning: appropriate only where the rules and matrix permit it. State what must stop and what rule applies.
- Mute: use for supported chat or communication violations. Confirm the evidence, duration, and reason.
- Kick: use only when permitted and appropriate to stop a current disruption or address a rule violation.
- Temporary ban: check the required evidence, history, duration, and your authority.
- Permanent ban: follow the matrix and required senior approval. Do not issue one impulsively.
- No action: appropriate when the report is unsupported, the behavior is allowed, or the available evidence does not establish a violation. Explain or escalate as appropriate.
Before confirming a punishment, check: - Am I authorized to issue this action? - Is there sufficient evidence? - Is this the correct rule? - Is the duration consistent with the matrix and relevant history? - Is a conflict of interest affecting my judgment? - Have I saved the evidence and prepared a clear log entry?
Never use punishments to force an apology, collect items, win a dispute, or make a player leave because you dislike them.
